An unfinished game developed for PlayStation 2 has been revealed years later. A prototype version of the game called The Last Job was released. The version, which was shared for free, showed quite good action compared to the PlayStation 2 era.

The Last Job, known internally as “The Heist”, was being developed by Acclaim around 2004 when the publisher went bankrupt. It was stated that the game was about 40 percent complete at the time of its cancellation.

Frank Gaskin, a well-known name in the game industry, obtained important information about the game. He even received a prototype backup of the game. The version published online includes most of The Last Job and some parts of the story.

In The Last Job, players would control four criminal characters with different abilities to pull off heists. Planned as a third-person action game, it was supposed to be characterized by realistic tactics. The developer even hired a former SAS member to make it realistic.

However, the game could not become a reality after the company went bankrupt. The latest prototype sheds light on the project. It also includes a debug menu that allows players to browse unfinished levels such as a motel, shipyard, casino and mansion.

The prototype version was developed for PlayStation 2. You can download it from this link and play it on emulators or PlayStation 2.
